After the 5th Birthday Party the organizers recovered themselves and created the menu for the next Meetup in March. Just two months ago Index had a story about Hungarian "home-made" aquaponic solarhouse, now on the Meetup you can find out how it works.
First we heard about aquaponia we thought it is about a swimming pony, but Peter Gonczi cleared the picture quickly: it is much more behind the scenes. It has something to do with symbiont fishes and parsley, and maybe with the old joke as well: it's nothing when you throw it up but when it's back, it's a tractor.

We used punchcard computers back then when we organized the first New Tech Meetup in the Lenin West Balkan community center. 10 different locations, 5 years and 300 presentasions later some of the original participants have to give a bath now in the meetup timeslot, but sometimes they can pass a night as well for a good reason.
We had a cake as well.

I was invited as a panelist to a "business underground conference", called StartUP (link in Hungarian). The event was truly grassroots: it was organized in just two weeks and sponsors were not given publicity - despite (or perhaps due to) this it had a great lineup, with fresh startups, marketers, VCs, government represented. The audience was also thoughtful, and had fun with commenting online via the projector. Check out some photos from the conference.

A project I'm doing in my spare time, called Corpora has won the opportunity last week to appear at this year's Venice Architecture Biennale in the Hungarian Pavilion.
Very thrilled and excited to show our project at such a prestigious venue.
The project is interesting from an architectural standpoint, but is also very interesting technologically, as it involves cellular automaton models, Zigbee wireless mesh-networked sensor motes, Augmented Reality viewports among other things.

The December Budapest New Technology Meetup went on fine yesterday. We had a nice series of presentations, ranging from an android robot to flash streaming server. Moreover, our very own Gergely Kis also had a presentation on the Google Android project.
Now we only have to wait until January for the next Meetup.
